The recent extreme heat wave sweeping across Europe has left many Chinese students studying abroad feeling as if they are in an oven. According to meteorological data, the heat wave has lasted for an extended period, with temperatures soaring above 35 degrees Celsius in many areas, and even reaching over 40 degrees Celsius in some regions.
The intense heat has forced students to adjust their daily routines. Outdoor activities have been minimized, and they prefer to stay indoors where there is air conditioning. Libraries and cafes have become popular cooling spots for the students.
"I go to the library to study every day, where there's air conditioning and not many people, which is very cool," said Xiao Wang, a Chinese student studying at a university in Europe.
To cope with the heat, the students have also made changes to their diet, opting for light and easy-to-digest foods, and adding cooling ingredients like mung beans and watermelons to their meals.
Despite these efforts, the heat has still had an impact on the students' studies and daily lives. Some have reported a decrease in their learning efficiency and even symptoms of heat exhaustion.
"Sometimes, I study late in the library, and when I come back, I feel like I've just been pulled out of water. It's tiring, but for the sake of my studies, I have to persevere," said Xiao Li, another Chinese student.
In the face of the heat wave, Chinese students studying abroad hope that Europe can soon weather this difficult period. They also remind their fellow compatriots abroad to take precautions against the heat and protect their health.
